Early humans have chosen the present city of Chennai and its suburbs as their home. Within a radius of nearly 40 kms to the south, west and north of Chennai, a number of archaeological sites have been reported. An analysis of the archaeological sites within and beyond the Chennai metropolitan area will be studied and assessed both from the view of an archaeologist and also from the view of the common citizen
