Programmes
India International Centre is known for its thoughtfully curated and diverse programmes. The Centre organises talks, discussions and cultural events in which leading scholars and performing artists, from India and abroad, participate.
Most of the IIC programmes are open to the public without tickets or invitations. The programmes are announced in the monthly Programme Card which is sent to members and non-members by post and by email; as well as announced on the IIC website, the IIC’s social media platforms and a weekly digital newsletter.
Hindustani and Carnatic vocal and instrumental recitals and classical Indian dance performances are held regularly. The dance and art forms from lesser-known traditions and regions of the country are also encouraged by the Centre. The Centre has also become an important platform for Western music concerts.
The Centre regularly presents exhibitions of paintings, photographs, sculptures, pottery, ceramics, and glass works of artists from India and abroad.
The Centre organises the annual C.D. Deshmukh Memorial Lecture, where an eminent personality is invited to speak. Various other annual lectures and thematic seminars are some of the notable programmes that are organised by the Centre through the year.
The annual festival ‘The IIC Experience: A Festival of the Arts’ presents the finest talents in the visual and performing arts. Talks, exhibitions, dance, music (Indian and Western), theatre, folk and installation art, the best of world cinema and cuisine are presented during the festival.
An Advisory Council appointed by the Board of Trustees advises the Centre on the thrust of the programmes. The Centre collaborates with prominent academic and cultural institutions in India and abroad, as well as diplomatic missions and their cultural centres to organise programmes through the year.
