Rare Carnatic Talas – A Lecture Demonstration

 

 

 

 

Percussion maestro, Shri T. R. Dhandapany along with his disciples under the ‘Guru Shishya Parampara’ will be sharing his research on rare Carnatic taalas (sulaadi sapta taalas) through a lecture demonstration on Mridangam and Konnakol. The theory of taala patterns and imposition of different gatis (speed cycles) will be explained through demonstration of various compositions. This will be followed by a talavadhyakucheri on one of these rare taalas to demonstrate the practical applicability of these rarely performed taalas
