Meet the Artist

Jogen Chowdhury, artist, will speak on: ‘My Journey as an Artist’. In the lecture, the artist will take us through the many defining phases of his career and share key insights. 

Jogen Chowdhury was born in 1939 in Faridpur, undivided Bengal (present day Bangladesh). Chowdhury studied at the Government College of Art and Crafts, Kolkata and École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. His early studies of human figures transformed into a distinctive style. 

Chowdhury has exhibited widely across the world. He has received many awards and was a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha. 

He is professor emeritus at Kala-Bhavan, Santiniketan. He currently lives and works in Calcutta and Santiniketan.
