Conference: Trauma and Reconciliation – To Remember or to Forget?

Conference: Trauma and Reconciliation – To Remember or to Forget?
A three-day conference to be held from 22 to 24 March 2018

Trauma can be described as a paradoxical phenomenon: A recollection that makes itself heard as something that wants to be forgotten, a constant reminder of something that should have sunk into oblivion, but pushes itself to the fore. Curated by Prof. Sudhir Kakar, this conference brings together a series of presentations and lectures by experts from different fields from psychology, psychoanalysis, sociology and medicine. These experts will provide information about current research on the topic and will present case studies from across the world to be able to understand how different societies have sought to deal with the problem of justice and/ or reconciliation. The conference is initiated by Farah Batool and Leonhard Emmerling and organized in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi.
